About

Every mom day dreams about locking herself in the bathroom for a few quiet moments to do her "business" (or while scarfing the last Girl Scout Cookies or Oreos...don't judge. If you understand, you've been there) and since you're here, we all know you've been there.

Whatever the day brings you - runny-nose, fussy kids, muddy floors, piles of dishes on the kitchen counter, pet accidents, dirty laundry overtaking the laundry room, chauffeuring to extra-curricular activities, cook, waitress, and even busboy - everyone needs to steal away for a few moments to re-energize your mind, quiet your heart, and focus on what is important - taking care of yourself. If you feel this way, then this blog is dedicated to you, a place for moms, by moms.

Before my son, Judah was born, a close friend from college put together a hand-written notebook of tips and advice on bringing a new baby home. As soon as she found out I was pregnant, she wrote a short tip for each day until the baby was born. The note book was filled of tips regarding things she wished someone had told her and unfortunately learned the hard way instead. From the get go, this notebook of "what to do" learned lessons or "what not to do" silly blunders, was a much needed, practical gift. I still remember browsing it and applying her lessons on caring for my own newborn. In some cases, I am sure it saved my own sanity.

At our very next play date (Fall of 2010), I mentioned the notebook idea to my close, political friend, Sarah, another mother of (now four) young boys. She was sold. The idea soon turned into a blog post to share with others and offer a much needed expression of our own mother musings in life be it tips to archive (so we do not forget), our own lessons learned, or just thoughts as moms.

I find it hard to believe we have made it this far but here we are still writing. Of course some days we finish posting before 9:00am because our kids woke us up before daylight. Other days we are having so much fun (or busy) being moms that we barely remember to complete our post before falling asleep. And some days we play chicken to see who writes first amidst all the daily diaper changes, errands, and chores.

Hopefully each day you will also find a useful tip, sound advice, or a silly antic that will encourage your own day. On Mondays, we share how to make something or "make a difference" in the lives of others. Tuesday becomes a free day with tips. Wash Wednesday assumes our favorite house cleaning ideas (that either get done because we have to post or cause us to day dream as we write our posts). Toy Thursday's posts specialize in toy topics and reviews. Friday is food day for those who need new recipes, which we all seem to need. Shuffle Saturday deals with topics on how busy lives can be for moms juggling kids, house, husband, and perhaps even work. And Sunday is a day of salvation with a short devotional.

IT IS TIME FOR RECESS!

And we welcome you to join us! I do not know about you, but I certainly need it from time to time. May this site become like your own notebook to browse through! And if you lock yourself in the bathroom for a few minutes to read it, we will not tell. As a recent follower, we ask you to continue to join us in our journey through motherhood. If you have been with us since the beginning, then we ask you to share your own notebook with other moms. After all, moms need each other!
